Almost all international schools face the same issues of recruiting and retaining quality staff. Investment in staff development is one of the important ways in which we can improve in these areas, while achieving the other vital objective of providing a quality educational service to our students. Through the generosity of donors, Woodstock has for many years had a solid programme of staff development. The ingredients of this programme include the payment of fees and expenses for staff who attend courses and professional conferences, meeting the cost of distance learning and internet-based courses, and bringing "scholars-in-residence" to the school to undertake broader-based training. With the increasing demands on the knowledge and skills of our teachers and administrators, this is an area which will require continued and increasing investment in the future.
