College guidance counselling services
The College Counsellor arranges university visits and guides students through the college research, selection, and admissions processes. The College Counselor and Registrar work together closely to prepare students' course plans and official documents such as the Woodstock transcript. Woodstock students are compelling applicants and successfully matriculate to universities worldwide. Recent graduates have gained admissions in the following countries/regions:
- U.S. 60%
- Canada 10%
- India 10%
- Australia 5%
- Korea 5%
- Europe 5%
- Gap Year 5%
Career development begins in grade 7 through the Advisory Curriculum, exposing students to careers and helping them to identify their interests, personality, and aptitudes. Individual assessment and counseling is available for grades 10-12.
From grade 9 onwards there is increased choice in a student's coursework. All students must fulfill Woodstock graduation requirements to receive an American high school diploma accredited by Middle States Association (MSA) and graduate from Woodstock School. The Woodstock diploma is recognized as equivalent to the +2 stage qualification of an India Board by the Association of Indian Universities. Voluntary options which may affect students' course selections beginning in grade 10 include the grade 12 Indian marksheet and the A.P. International Diploma.
Parents are encouraged to be involved in course selection, college and career decisions. Parent workshops are held at the beginning of semesters and during parent-teacher conferences, and family appointments with the College Counselor are available upon request.
Renee Bowling - College Counsellor
A proud Midwesterner, I hail from the small town of Canal Fulton, Ohio, U.S.A., with a B.A. in Sociology, M.A. in Counseling and Human Development: School Counseling, and hold a School Counselor license from the state of California. I've worked on both the university and high school sides the past 10 years, and enjoy helping Woodstock's gifted students find a good fit for university. In my free time I enjoy reading, dancing, taking walks in the forest, and traveling.
